While I was working on a graphic novel adaptation of my dissertation in Sitka, some rain came from the rainforest and through the roof and leaked onto the pages I had completed.
Instead of crying, I told everybody it was cool, because it’s not like the time the Library of Alexandria burned to the ground. (Jim Jim is deeply saddened at our lack of ability to make Damascus Steel.) Or like Professional Cartoonist Sam Alden had his work rained on. (We were sharing a studio on the Sheldon Jackson Campus at the time.)
It was more like some drawings that I copied (rather poorly) from wikipedia got damp and their colors ran. If anything, it was terribly ironic, because one of the drawings was an American flag!
And I’m out of jokes.
