“I’m just a bill.” “I’m just a cartoon!”

Sometimes, people think that I research animated cartoons, because I forget to specify which category I actually study (editorial / political / cartographical!).

But there’s lots of overlap in all sorts of cartoons, anyhow, as these examples about legislative bills in the United States demonstrate:

John Miller Baer, The Nonpartisan Leader, 8 February 1917

John Miller Baer, The Nonpartisan Leader, 8 February 1917.

Clifford Kennedy Berryman, "

Clifford Kennedy Berryman, “Hepburn Rate Bill,” 15 May 1906.

Today’s mash-up was brought to you by Schoolhouse Rock, the North Dakota State University Archives, and the Library of Congress. Three great tastes that taste great together.

UPDATE:

Here are some bills from the Canadian context (found in Acadia University Library’s digital collection).

"Reducing the Burden," Donald M. McRitchie, 1926
