“What is your dissertation about?”

Sometimes, people ask me. Here is the handy flyer that my mom laminated for me to carry around so I don’t actually have to answer the question using verbal language:

A Murphyao Diss Pamphlet

Claim to fame:

Soon (2015), I will become the first (dare I say only?) person in the world with three degrees in Canadian Studies (BA, MA, PhD pending).

Don’t worry because I am super-interdisciplinary. (And the field now has a PhD.)

Liz Lemon calls grad students “the worst people.” You can make up your own mind about that.

“Who are you?” asked no one, ever.

I have written posts on other blogs, including Women Write About Comics, and I am a contributor to BlueSky GIS (a collection of cartoon-ography, or cartography in cartoons). I will consider interesting trades.

“What’s the posting schedule?”

I posted dissertation-related thoughts on this blog on Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 2011 through June 2015 (plus other days when I had More To Say). For June 2015 through June 2016, I’ll be on leave and only posting once a month. The blog will keep going until I move on to other things or graduate, whichever comes first.

FYI, in case you were led here by the Carleton University RSS feed, I am doing my best to follow the Carleton rules and regulations. Other readers, if things got boring suddenly, now you know why!
